Week 7, Day 3 Devotional

Day Three:
Read: Acts 13:13-52

Reflect:
1)   In verses 17-21 there is an overarching theme in what Paul says about the history of Israel.  Discontent is that theme.  The people were unhappy in the desert after being rescued out of Egypt.  They grew unhappy with the judges so they wanted a king.  How similar we are!  What are areas of discontentment in your life?  Are you looking at things other than God to find contentment?

2)       What does verse 39 say that believers are freed from?
a.        Ten Commandments
b.       Tithing
c.        Mosaic Law
d.       Hardship

3)     How do Paul and Barnabas react when they get driven out of Antioch?  How do you react in situations in which you are rejected for sharing the gospel?

To Memorize:
But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
