Week 6, Day 2 Devotional

Day Two:
Read: Acts 11:1-18

Reflect:
1)       Why were the Jewish believers criticizing Peter?
a.        Because he cut off his beard
b.       Because he denied Christ
c.        Because he was teaching heresy
d.       Because he was preaching to the Gentiles

2)       In verse 7 Peter rehashes God’s invitation to eat foods that were unclean under the Mosaic Law.  Given Peter’s response in verse 8 and God’s counter response in verse 9, why do you think God made certain foods unclean in the Old Testament?  Was it simply because He could or was there some deeper reason behind it?

3)     Peter says in verse 17 that he has no place to question God and stand in the way of His mission to reach the Gentiles.  How have you attempted to stand in God’s way to reach those who you see as undesirable?  How must God change your heart?

To Memorize:
And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift He gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to stand in God’s way?

Acts 11:17 (NLT)
